The Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works signed a partnership agreement last Wednesday with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) , providing for execution of water wells projects in Somalia. A total of US$2 million has been earmarked for the Somali projects as part of a wider programme which covers other African countries.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Zayed Foundation by its acting director Salim Obaid Al Dhaheri. Al Dhaheri said in remarks after the signing ceremony that the project was implemented in line with the directives of H.H President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan , pertaining to execution of urgent water projects in ten African countries that are currently facing drought. He described the UNDP as an ideal partner in the project in view of its long experience in Somalia. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
