The Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works has allocated Dh 22 million for financing health and social projects on the Palestinian Territories. The Foundation said that these humanitarian projects will be implemented in line with instructions by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and follow up from General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to ease suffering of the Palestinian people.

The Foundation took this decision at a meeting president over by Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Under Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Industry and Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, in the presence of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Deputy Chairman.

Acting Director General of The Foundation Salim Al Dhahiri said prompt measures had been taken to meet basic requirements of Palestinian people.

These projects, he added, would be executed in coordination with the National Palestinian Authority and UNRWA - the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.

According to him, a committee made up of representatives of the three stakeholders would be set to follow up implementation of projects. 'A memorandum of understanding will be signed with the UNRWA for identifying priority projects, mechanisms of execution and time-frame,' he explained. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
