The law which demands that visitors to the UAE must leave the country before re-entering with a new entry visa is to be cancelled. A letter was sent yesterday from President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai directing him to annul the departure stipulation nationwide.

Sheikh Zayed said that the move was part of his commitment to easing visa procedure. He directed Sheikh Maktoum to issue the necessary decree and directives to annul the condition in related cases. He said the country's institutions concerned should put in place the necessary rules and regulations to that effect and the revenue collected from a stipulated fee on that should go to the government treasury.(The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
