Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Society has reaffirmed the UAE commitment to humanitarian causes worldwide. +The humanitarian initiatives of President H.H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan have set a noble example of the values of charity and human fraternity+ he said. Sheikh Hamdan added that those humanitarian initiatives have always provided a glimmer of hope for the distressed people around the world. He also lauded the support extended to RCS projects by H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

He similarly hailed the support provided by H.H Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the President's wife and Chairwoman of the UAE General Women' s Union (GWU), saying that her support has reinforced the role of the RCS regionally and internationally. Sheikh Hamdan's remarks came in a statement delivered at a ceremony organised by the RCS to honour a number of philanthropists who have regularly contributed to the activities of the RCS. He added that the philanthropists have never failed in responding to the consequences of any disaster and thereby saved lives and restored hope for the bereaved. Sheikh Hamdan further renewed the commitment of the RCS, saying that the charity body will redouble efforts to address the challenges that face its humanitarian mission.
