Zayed will remain in our memory for ever: Jenin Camp inhabitants

The UAE Red Crescent Society 's, RCS, pioneering initiative in reconstructing Jenin camp, after it had been destroyed by the Israeli army, has put on record a unique humanitarian stance, which had never been achieved before by any Arab or international charity organisation, it was announced here today by the inhabitants of Jenin camp.



'Following the Israeli sabotage to Jenin camp, the UAE in line with the directives of the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, had looked closely at the event and the UAE RCS moved at once to respond to the call for help launched by the camp inhabitants, who were made homeless and stayed in the open air', they added Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, RCA Board Chairman said that the UAE RCS Representative in Jerusalem, Emirates' Friends Society, EFS, rushed into the camp and delivered urgent relief supplies to the inhabitants of the camp. The aid included foodstuff, clothes, blankets and tents.



In addition to that Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Premier, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and RCS Chairman has ordered leasing of flats to house families, whom their houses were destroyed by the Israeli onslaught, Nasser added Humanitarian projects implemented by the UAE RCS since the eruption of the Palestinian uprising up to the end of November 2004 were valued at Dh 420 million, Nasser stated.



The inhabitants of Jenin Camp expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for his noble gesture in ordering reconstruction of Jenin camp, saying that Sheikh Zayed's name and good deeds for the benefit of the Palestinians would remain in our memory for ever.
