The UAE and the US are reliable allies, with shared security and economic interests, Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, said.

'This is due to the fact that the UAE is a source of stability, tolerance, innovation, and growth in the Arabian Gulf and around the globe,' Sheikha Lubna said in a keynote remarks at a reception in the Emirates Palace Hotel organised by AmCham Abu Dhabi, the National Defence Industrial Association, and the US-UAE Business Council, and supported by both the UAE Embassy Trade and Commercial Office, as well as the US Embassy Commercial Service in honour of the visit of the US Aerospace '&' Defence Trade Mission to the UAE this week.

The reception was attended by business executives and government leaders from the US and UAE with interests in the defence, aerospace, and security sectors.

Among the attendees were the US Ambassador to the UAE, Richard Olsen.

The trade mission consists of sixty-five representatives from over fifty US companies in the defence and aerospace sectors who have arrived in the UAE to further deepen and strengthen the defence and commercial trade relationship between the two countries.

In addition to the major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the US defence sector, over forty Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), many of which have little or no current business activities in the UAE, will participate in the mission.

In her speech, Sheikha Lubna stated "While the UAE has a strong relationship with many of the large US Defence and Aerospace companies, we see room for partnerships and new facilities being created to provide multiple sources for parts, and even a measure of self-sufficiency by creating capability at home, and creating jobs and a future for people in these sectors." Throughout the mission, these US defence companies will have the opportunity to meet with their counterparts from key defence companies in the UAE.

The mission will include briefings from public and private sector officials with expertise in the UAE's defence, military, and homeland security space. In addition to meetings and briefings, delegates will conduct site visits to major industrial zones and tour key compounds. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
