UNICEF Goodwill envoy lauds UAE's camel jockey rehabilitation programmes

Major General Nasser Al Menhali, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior for Naturalisation, Residency and Exits Affairs, discussed today with Mohamoud Qabeel, Ambassador of Goodwill to the UNICEF, ways of enhancing joint cooperation for protection of children.

The UNICEF Goodwill messenger praised substantial efforts made by the UAE for rehabilitation of former child camel jockey and their integration into the local communities.

He said that he paid a two-day visit to Mauritania where he inspected projects carried out by the UAE to generate revenues for those children. He added that families of those children whom he met during his trip affirmed to him their living standards were improving thanks to the projects implemented by the UAE.

He said that he had seen an integrated rehabilitation community for those children in Mauritania.

The Interior Ministry senior official hoped that UNICEF representatives would escort Ministry delegations in their visits to other countries which have similar projects in order to further boost UAE-UNICEF partnership – Emirates News Agency, WAM
