The UAE's cultural heritage will be showcased in a new bilingual website to be set up by The Young Arab Leaders UAE Chapter and Zayed University. The first International Pearl Convention will be held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in November to revive the pearl industry in the UAE. The world's second largest pearl, the Arco Valley Pearl which is also the largest pearl currently for sale, will be on auction during the convention. Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) resumes holding workshops to prepare a law project to protect, regulate and manage cultural heritage in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. A series of summer camps to teach children about the country's heritage have been launched by Watani. The events for youngsters aged from seven to 16 will continue until the end of the month. A pearl once owned by Genghis Khan's grandson Kublai Khan was put on auction in abu dhabi. The pearl named Arco Valley is the " biggest of its size outside a museum" according to its present owner Khaled Ali Al Sayegh. Reuter reported on Thursday that the Abu Dhabi jeweller expected the pearl to fetch a solid US$8 million. The pearl which used to belong to Kublai Khan was given by him to Marco Polo as a present. While Dubai's trade in pearls harvested from the waters of the Arabian Gulf may be a thing of the past, efforts are now underway to revive the emirates' role in the pearl industry.
