This beachhead south of Ras al-Khaimah city is covered with the remains of a small settlement of the Islamic era. In addition to glazed ceramics and glass, seven copper coins with animal designs showing deer, peacocks and a palm branch, have been picked up at the site. Such coins are typical of the late seventeenth and eighteenth century in Iran and at least three were minted at Kashan, on the central Iranian Plateau, one of which bears the date of 1098 AH or 1686 AD It is thought that the site at Kashm Nadir may represent the remains of an encampment of Nadir Shah's troops which were stationed in Ras al-Khaimah between 1736 and 1749. Indeed, Nadir Shah's troops occupied Julfar
and Khor Fakkan at this time and marched on the Al Ain/Buraimi area as well.
