Seminar for Arabian Studies
The Seminar for Arabian Studies is an annual international forum for the presentation and discussion of new research on Arabia and is often the place where major discoveries are announced to the academic world. Papers at the Seminar regularly cover a wide range of disciplines such as: archaeological excavations, surveys and detailed studies of objects; architectural and art historical research; the study of pre-Islamic and Islamic inscriptions and other documents; numismatics; research on the pre-Islamic languages of the Peninsula as well as Classical Arabic and the vernaculars and the non-Arabic spoken languages of Southern Arabia; rock-art; anthropology, ethnography, ethno-archaeology; the social, political and economic history of Arabia from prehistory to the end of the Ottoman empire; documentary research; studies of the early European travellers to the Middle East, etc.
