Works will start in September for the new facilities at the Khatam border crossing centre between UAE and Oman. The Dh15.5mn premises are being built as per directives from Interior Minister Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, within the frame work of the Ministry's policy to upgrade the border crossing centres and ease procedures in the light of the economic boom witnessed by the country.

UN Secretary General welcomes UAE decision to write off Iraq debt Posted on 09/08/2008
New York - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has welcomed UAE's decision to write off all debts on Iraq. The debt amounting to USD 4bn that was paid to Iraq over the last several years was written off along with interest by a decision in July by President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Amman - UAE Minister of Labour Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash and his Jordanian counterpart Dr. Basem Al-Salem yesterday discussed ways to further promote relations between their countries as well as opportunities to develop the labour market.
