EAD supports wild Saker Falcon nesting project in Mongolia Posted on 30/08/2010
The Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi (EAD) is working on an innovative project with the Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism (MNET) in Mongolia on an artificial nesting programme aimed at increasing the wild Saker falcon population.
The process of placing 5,000 artificial nests has begun, all of which are predicted to provide nesting sites for up to 500 pairs of Sakers by the year 2015.

UAE presents its efforts in handling falconry file to UNESCO meet in Thailand Posted on 01/08/2010
The UAE presented its pilot experiment in compiling an international file on falconry to the regional consultation meeting on intangible heritage beyond borders: safeguarding through international which was hosted by the UNESCO in Bangkok, Thailand.
This Consultation aims to raise awareness on the nature of intangible heritage that is shared across borders and to promote international cooperation in this area.

CNN's report highlights UAE's Falcons Hospital Posted on 14/06/2010
CNN's Middle East edition, in a recent extensive report on June 10th, highlighted the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital, the largest of its kind in the world, employing 52 people and treating around 5,000 birds each year. The CNN's report titled "Inside Abu Dhabi's state-of-the-art falcon hospital", says "pampered patients" stay in air-conditioned rooms and are fed a daily diet of quail -- and occasionally, mice at the state-of-the-art hospital.

Sheikh Zayed Falcon Release Programme completes 16 years Posted on 17/05/2010
This year, 57 falcons were released in the wild above the Altai Mountain range in Kazakhstan and for the first time ever, a gyr falcon was released among them.
The release programme was organised under the aegis of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), with medical support being provided by the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital.

A young Steppe Eagle was successfully tagged and tracked by the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD). Thanks to this satellite tracking programme, the Agency has learned interesting information that will help it to conserve the Eagle's wintering routes and breeding areas.

The UAE is stepping up efforts to have falconry included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
