74 cars to take part in Dubai 24-hour endurance race Posted on 12/01/2012
The 2012 Dunlop 24 Hours of Dubai race gets under way today with free practice followed by qualifying.
Teams will have more than eight hours of track time at Dubai Autodrome to prepare themselves for the race, which starts at 2pm tomorrow.
About 74 cars are set to begin the seventh running of the day-long race this year and the field is of the highest standard ever.

Etihad Airways to stage Grand Prix fly-by Posted on 13/11/2011
Spectators at the F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday will be wowed by a low flying Airbus A340-600 shortly before racing commences. As tension reaches fever pitch on the grid in the moments before the lights go green at 5pm (UAE time), the specially liveried aircraft will swoop over the racetrack at a height of 600 feet, piloted by A330/A340 Chief Pilot Giorgio Evangelisti.

It did not take long to find more than 500 volunteers willing to step forward and be the "Emirati face of the race" as they greet visitors at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend.
The recruitment target was reached so quickly that registration was closed several days before the planned deadline, said Maytha Al Habsi, the director of volunteer organisation Takatof, which co-ordinates the effort.

During Thursday's pre-event Pit Lane Walk, 3-day ticket holders for this year's Formula 1TM Etihad Airways Grand Prix will not only be given the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the team garages, they will also get the opportunity to meet some of the championship's leading drivers.

Less than a week after Abu Dhabi hosts a Formula One Grand Prix at Yas Marina, Al Ain will come alive with the world's largest karting event — the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals.
