Guangzhou - Sheikh Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qasimi was relishing his moment of glory after winning the equestrian team silver in jumping at the 16th Asian Games on Monday.
"Five years ago it would have been funny to think that I could have been on a podium at an Asian Games. But today this is a reality and it will probably take some time for the feeling to sink in," Sheikh Majid told Gulf News.

Guangzhou, China - After going eight days without a medal, the UAE have now claimed two in as many days after the Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum-led team finished second in the showjumping competition yesterday.
While Saudi Arabia wowed the crowd with near-perfect jumping to win the gold, the UAE won a jump-off with Hong Kong after finishing level with 11 faults.

 Farah does her country proud

The appearance of UAE riders in two finals and the 13th placing of equestrienne Farah Al Khojai summed up the country's showing at the end of the fifth day of the 16th Asian Games.
The UAE's Badr Ali Al Beloushi finished eighth overall in the Men's Kierin Finals, while teammate Mohammad Al Murwwi came in 17th from 24 riders in the demanding Men's Points Race Finals held at the Guangzhou Velodrome Wednesday.

 UAE riders to compete in Show Jumping World Championship

Kentucky - The UAE riders will compete tomorrow in the Show Jumping World Championships of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games at the Kentucky Horse Park. Taleb Al Muhairi, Secretary General of Emirates Equestrian Federation, said the UAE team will participate in five world competitions.

Five junior showjumpers from the UAE left on Monday to take part in the Arab Team Challenge which is scheduled to take place from July 1 to 5 at Hoofddorp in Holland.
The UAE riders include Sheikh Rashid Bin Ahmad Al Maktoum, Sheikh Ali Bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Mohammad Abdullah Al Kitbi, Sultan Saif Al Awani and Yousuf Hashim Al Bafaaly. The Dubai Show Jumping Championship CSI-W 2007 will be commencing at the Emirates Equestrian Centre today. The exciting three-day event, which will be hosting the World Cup qualifiers for GCC countries, starts this afternoon with gates opening at 3pm. The first show jumping class begins at 4 pm.

Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum warmed up in style for this week's Dubai Show Jumping 2007 Championship with a smart win at last weekend's event at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club. Sheikha Latifa, who was a member of the UAE team that won the bronze at the Doha Asiad, showed fine form at last weekend's competitions.
