Some 60% of international visitor arrivals in Abu Dhabi are guests making their first trip to the emirate, according to an Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) survey, and 87% would consider returning.

 Dubai Cruise Terminal launches new era

The city's new cruise terminal was opened yesterday in a combined ceremony with the inauguration of the cruise ship Costa Deliziosa, the first such event in an Arab city.
"This is a special day for us," said Hamad Bin Mejren, Executive Director, Business Tourism, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
"The cruise industry is very important to the tourism economy in Dubai."

 Abu Dhabi Ambassador programme expands to ten organisations

The Abu Dhabi Ambassador programme initiated by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has been expanded to take in 10 public and private sector organisations with some 67 Emirati participants now due to graduate from the knowledge-sharing cultural scheme within the next month.

The cruise tourism industry could deliver a substantial economic impact annually for Abu Dhabi, according to a dedicated market study commissioned by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA).

Abu Dhabi is all set to welcome in Mina Zayed one of the most advanced cruise liners afloat - the 92,600 tonnes Costa Deliziosa - which is making her maiden call tomorrow in the UAE capital. President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as a Ruler of Abu Dhabi emirate, has issued an emiri decree, reshuffling the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority Board.

 Capital awash with cruise ship traffic

The number of cruise passengers arriving at Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT) could grow by more than 100 per cent this year as more ships are attracted to the region. Passenger numbers increased to 90,004 last year, up from 71,467 in 2008.

Tourists coming to the UAE will be able to make payments in their own currencies at the point of sale under the âPay in Your Currency' service that has been introduced, a top official of the service provider told Gulf News.

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has released detailed statistics on the performance of Sharjah's tourism sector for the second half of 2009. The city's new cruise terminal in Port Rashid is set to open in the coming month, meaning the project is well on schedule.
