Umm Al Qaiwain - Department of Archaeology and Heritage in Umm Al Qaiwain has announced new discoveries at al-Dur archaeological site, north eastern of the emirate. Some of the items uncovered at al-Dur include a bronze ring, agate and glass beads, a large jar containing a small glazed-pottery dish,, iron arrow, and dagger blades. Int'l archaeological teams arrive in Sharjah Posted on 03/01/2012
Archaeological teams from the U.S, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Japan have arrived in Sharjah to start excavations at different ancient locations in the emirate of Sharjah for a better insight into the history of the area.
The Belgian mission will start work at the Maleeha site to dig out more underground tombs. Previously, six such tombs containing skeletons were among the finds by this mission.

Ancient settlements detected at Dalma Island and Al Khan Posted on 02/11/2011
Archaeologists have discovered the buried remains of Neolithic, medieval and later structures at two sites using sophisticated imaging technology.

The remains of two Abbasid houses have just been found in Al Ain, along with several pots and artefacts. An archaeological exhibition that gave an insight into a time when Abu Dhabi was at the centre of a vibrant trading culture in the Arabian Peninsula ended Sunday.

A unique view of Abu Dhabi is drawing to a close as "The Dawn of History: Revealing the Ancient Past of Abu Dhabi", a major exhibition at Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain, nears the end of a successful three-month run.

The Historic Environment Department of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage has published a monographic book that summaries and discusses the current state of the sites on the Umm an-Nar Island, which must have lived at least three centuries (2600-2300 BC).
The book entitled "Archaeology of Umm an-Nar Island 1959-2009" is written by Dr. Walid Yasin Al Tikriti, head of the archaeology at ADACH.

Abu Dhabi Police foiled selling of fake Pre-Islamic era antiquities worth Dh3.2 million when they arrested the accused red handed.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Abu Dhabi Police recently arrested two Arabs, one is a cook, while another is a construction worker, in connection with an attempt to sell the two pieces of fake antiquities dating back to 500 B.C., according to Brig. Hamad Ahmed Al Hamadi, Director of the CID.

Scientists discover ancient RAK caves Posted on 27/01/2011
Six of the world's leading experts from Slovenia's Karst Institute and UAE University have discovered the remnants of a cave network that may have existed millions of years ago.
The cave is thought to predate the surrounding wadi and should provide clues about the UAE's former climate, geography and water.
