Regulation for energy drinks issued Posted on 31/05/2010
The Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, or ESMA, has announced the issuance of a technical regulation for energy drinks and its handling requirements.
UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 8/2010 issued the mandatory standard, giving a gross period of six months β by October 29, 2010 β for suppliers and producers, regulators and others involved to adjust and comply to the requirement.

Over 300,000 vaccinations were administered to sheep, goats and cows in the Abu Dhabi emirate to prevent communicable diseases in a campaign launched on December 27 by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA).

UAE consumers appear to be heading for a break from the steady rises in food costs as the prices of some products declined in the second quarter while others recorded only slight increases.

Basmati rice prices have fallen between 41 per cent and 62 per cent over past few months until yesterday, a senior official at the Ministry of Economy has told Emirates Business.

The United Arab Emirates said on Tuesday it would move to bring down the cost of basic food items charged by retailers because they were no longer appropriate following a slump in world commodity prices.

Food prices in the country are expected to drop by more than 50 per cent from April after the second phase of the Ministry of Economy's plan to reduce prices comes into effect, said a top official of the ministry.
