Dubai hotels are after all not as expensive as perceived globally, according to a new study. The emirate ranks only 12th in the world in terms of most expensive cities for hotel guests, with Dubai hotels' average nightly room rates resting at €121.11 (Dh606) for February 2010.

Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH), the UAE's leading hospitality group with interests in hotels, catering, tourism and transport, reported a net profit of Dh432.92 million compared to Dh292.74 million in 2008, reflecting growth of 47.9%.
Sound performances in all operating divisions combined with earnings generated from investments boosted net profits by 47.9% to 432.92 million from Dh292.74 million in 2008.

Abu Dhabi is seeking to lure 1.7 million hotel guests to the emirate this year, which is a 10 per cent increase from 2009, the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority said.
The number of hotel guests rose 16 per cent in the fourth quarter, the ADTA said in an emailed statement on Tuesday.
More than 1.5 million guests stayed in the emirate's hotels during 2009, a 2 per cent increase from 2008.

Abu Dhabi achieved a 2% rise in hotel guest numbers last year bucking international trends in a globally depressed tourism market. Dubai broke another world record on Wednesday by inaugurating the tallest hotel.
Rose Rayhaan by Rotana has been officially certified by Guinness World Records as the world's tallest hotel. At 333 metres it is five metres higher than its rival in Bangkok, and is located on Sheikh Zayed Road, close to the Dubai International Financial Centre.
