Minister issues ordinance lifting ban on importing birds from Turkey Posted on 10/04/2009
Minister of Environment and Water HE Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahd issued an ordinance today lifting ban on the import of birds and their products from Turkey.
The ordinance said that all kinds of birds and poultry and their products can be imported from Turkey abiding by the veterinary laws in the country.

Bird flu scare tests levels of readiness Posted on 03/03/2007
UAE's bird flu emergency response plan went into high gear on Thursday as an Indonesian housemaid got sick after handling dead birds in her employer's yard.
The 31 year-old maid was rushed to the Rashid Hospital Trauma Centre and kept under observation in isolation.

Steps to prevent the deadly bird flu from entering the UAE are in place, with officials advising calm following reports of an outbreak in neighbouring Kuwait.
Kuwait on Sunday confirmed 20 cases of H5N1, the virulent strain of bird flu, in falcons, chickens and turkeys, based on tests conducted by local and laboratory results.
