Minor tremor felt in northern emirates of the UAE Posted on 23/07/2009
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has recorded a 5.6 magnitude earthquake at 7.35am Wednesday morning on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz area.
The tremor resulting from the earthquake was felt lightly in some areas in the UAE especially the northern emirates, according to the NCMS. Some parts of Fujairah and Dibba and surrounding villages felt the tremors most.

The National Centre of Metrology and Seismology (NCMS) recorded yesterday an earth tremor measuring a magnitude of 3.9 and on the Richter scale at 10:14 pm local time at the Strait of Hormuz near Ras Musandam. Tremor in Gulf of Oman Posted on 11/05/2009
An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale occurred early morning Sunday in the Gulf of Oman, said the UAE National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology. The tremor which was "slightly felt" in parts of north eastern areas of the UAE, namely Khorfakkan and Fujairah, struck at 5:7 am, added the Centre in a statement. Rock formations found in eastern parts of the UAE and Oman could help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by soaking up the harmful gas, a team of scientists believe.

The National Seismic Network, an affiliate of the UAE National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology, has recorded Friday, at 7:36 am, an earth tremor of 4.3 degree on the Richter's scale in Kishm, Southern Iran. According to a statement released by the Network, a copy which reached WAM, the tremor was lightly felt in some parts of the northern emirates of the UAE, adding that the tremor was an aftershock from the main earthquake that hit the same area on September 10, 2008.

The seismic network stations across the UAE detected 17 tremors in the aftershocks of the earthquake that hit the Iranian port city of Bandher Abbas Wednesday afternoon.
