Al Ain - A British adventurer and two Emiratis will recreate the epic journey of famous desert explorer Sir Wilfred Thesiger to mark the UAE's 40th National Day.
Adrian Hayes, Ghafan Mohammad Al Jabry, and Saeed Rashid Al Mesafry will trek through the Empty Quarter with camels from Salalah, a city in Oman, to Abu Dhabi.

ADACH National Library joins World Digital Library Posted on 15/02/2011
The National Library of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) has joined the World Digital Library (WDL), an international project that places on line important historical and cultural documents from countries around the world.
It's worth mentioning that 119 partner institutions from 66 countries are currently contributing to the WDL, which is being developed with the support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Fujairah Crown Prince receives family of British airman died in WW II Posted on 28/01/2010
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, received yesterday Mrs. June Botten, niece of the British airman, Sergeant William Donnelly, who died in a crash of the Wellington bomber of Britain's Royal Air Force at Sayh Dhadnah in Fujairah during the World War II.

Memorial to World War Two plane crash unveiled Posted on 28/01/2010
Dhadnah, Fujairah - Nearly seventy years after a Wellington bomber of Britain's Royal Air Force crash-landed at Sayh Dhadnah, in Fujairah, a memorial stone was unveiled today at the site, commemorating both the crash and a British airman, Sergeant William (âBilly') Donnelly, who died as a result of the crash. The crash took place on 14 February 1943.

Emirate to mark 100th anniversary of the death of Zayed the Great Posted on 12/05/2009
A two-day celebration to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa al Nahyan â Zayed the First â will take place in the Jahili Fort in Al Ain next week.
The fort was built by the Sheikh, who ruled Abu Dhabi from 1855 to 1909, the longest reign in the emirate's history. Sheikh Zayed, who is also known as Zayed the Great, died on May 19 1909.

The National Center for Documentation and Research (NCDR) yesterday launched its latest publication "New Perspectives in Recording UAE History".
The volume includes 25 papers by outstanding historians and scientists, delving deep into the distant past and documenting millions of years of UAE history in light of recent archeological discoveries. Dhayah Fort is the only castle standing atop a mountainous dune in the UAE, which was used by ancient tribes as an armed zone to ward off invaders.
