EAD tracks Steppe Eagle to Kazakhstan Posted on 11/11/2009
A young Steppe Eagle was successfully tagged and tracked by the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD). Thanks to this satellite tracking programme, the Agency has learned interesting information that will help it to conserve the Eagle's wintering routes and breeding areas.
The Steppe Eagle is a relatively uncommon winter migrant to the UAE, compared to other countries in the region. They are more likely to be found in Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Oman.

The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) concluded its workshop on falconry on Tuesday in preparation for submitting a file for the registration of the falconry as a world intangible heritage at the UNESCO before the end of this month. More than 500 children will experience Arabian culture, including falconry, during a 'Schools' Day' at the Second International Festival of Falconry in the UK.

68 falcons, including 22 sakers and 46 peregrines, were released on May 9 - 10, in the Altai mountain area in Kazakhstan, which is famous for falcons.
