Phase 1 of UAE neighbourhood in Indonesia completed

Jakarta - The first phase of the UAE- funded residential township project in the Indonesian region of Aceh was officially inaugurated on Tuesday. The project is part of an aid package donated by the United Arab Emirates to Indonesia following the massive earthquake that triggered a devastating tsunami in Aceh region on 24 December 2004. NEC announces election dates for each Emirate

The National Election Committee (NEC) announced that the Federal National Council (FNC) elections will take place on three designated dates in December. The elections will start on December 16th in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, followed by December 18th in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah (RAK). ADNOC Distribution cuts diesel prices

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution (Adnoc Distribution) announced here on Wednesday that it would slash diesel prices by 20 fils per a gallon. An official source at the company told WAM that the decision will be effective from Thursday 19th,2006. According to the decision, diesel price will be reduced from its current Dhs.9 to Dhs.8.80 per gallon. Demand for new fuel E-plus increasing: Adnoc Distribution

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution (Adnoc Distribution) said here today that demand for its new product E-plus was increasing, hitting over 60% during the first week of the launch of the product. Thuraya officially releases world's smallest satellite phone

Abu Dhabi-based Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company has officially released its second-generation handheld phones. The lightest and smallest in the industry, the SO-2510 and the SG-2520, have received rave reviews since their soft launch a few months ago. UAE mobile subscribers to top 5.7 million by 2010

UAE telecom consumers can expect lower calling rates in the next four years, according to the forecast by BIS Shrapnel, an Australia-based provider of research, analysis and forecasting services. In its report Cellular Forecast Report up to 2010, BIS Shrapnel predicts that the airtime rate in the UAE will fall by almost 50 per cent by 2010. ADIB profit for Q3 up 70.11pc

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) made a net profit of Dh405 million during the third quarter of the financial year. This is an increase of 70.11 per cent over the same period last year. During the same period last year the bank earned a net profit of Dh238 million. Rakbank net profit rises 39% to Dh193m

The National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah reported a net profit of Dh193 million for the nine months to September 30, a 39 per cent increase over the same period in 2005. Earnings per share rose to Dh0.36 compared to Dh0.26 for the year-ago period. Istithmar planning US$7b spending spree

Dubai government investment agency Istithmar is planning European and North American acquisitions worth US$7 billion before July 2007 in industries such as media and manufacturing, according to its CEO. DGCX to start trading fuel oil derivative contracts on October 30

The Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX) the world's newest online commodities derivative exchange will begin trading fuel oil contracts at the end of this month. DGCX also plans to trade gasoline derivatives next year.
