The mid-2012 resident population of Abu Dhabi emirate was 2.33 million with the population of Abu Dhabi Region estimated at 1.42 million, Al Ain region at 0.63 million and Al Gharbia region at 0.29 million, the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD) said in the Yearbook of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi-2013 released on Monday. The UAE and Qatar have the highest percentage of expatriates relative to their population in the oil-rich Gulf although Saudi Arabia has the largest number of foreigners, according to a regional study.
