The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) announced the commissioning and inauguration of the Dh130 million power plant in Umm Al Qaiwain, as part of the federal government plans for expansion of transmission and dispatch network to cope with the Emirate's rising energy demands. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has launched a new 132/11kV substation, with a capacity of 150 megavolt amperes (MVA), in Dubai Academic City, at a cost of Dh106 million. Sharjah to cut power and water use by 30%

In an ambitious new move, Sharjah plans to slash power and water use by at least 30 per cent over the next five years. The plan was announced on Wednesday at the head office of the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) as part of the declaration of Sharjah as the City of Conservation.
