Camel auctioned for Dh2.5m

Another male camel from a prize-winning bloodline was auctioned for Dh2.5 million on Tuesday. The camel, a grandson of prize-winning UAE camel Jabbar, was auctioned with 23 other camels on the sidelines of the ongoing Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex) 2006. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces visited yesterday the International Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition (Abu Dhabi 2006), at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibitions Centre. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers Club, on Sunday opened the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre. Male camel fetches Dh680,000 at auction

A male camel was yesterday sold for Dh680,000, in an auction during the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2005. About a hundred people attended the auction yesterday. Thirty-five camels were sold to traders who saw it as "an opportunity of a lifetime" and a great "bargain".
