Mohammed bin Zayed chairs Executive Council meeting
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council chaired in Abu Dhabi yesterday the regular meeting of the council.
During the meeting, the council reviewed a number of memoranda submitted by various departments in the emirate and took appropriate decisions. One of them was a memo by the Housing Development Committee, proposing construction of 200 residential villas in Madinat Zayed in the Western region.
The project whose consultants have been approved, is to be completed within 600 days. Another memo approved by the council was one by the Abu Dhabi Culture and Heritage Authority on a translation project where selected foreign titles will be translated into Arabic.
The budget of the General Secretariat of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council for 2007 was approved during the meeting. The council further endorsed a memo by the Department of Municipalities and Agriculture on the award of contracts for operation and maintenance of surface irrigation networks in Eastern Ghiyathi and other outlying areas in the Western Region.
A general review of the municipal activities during the 2006-7 was also made during the meeting. Another memo by the department of municipalities on waste management contracts was approved by the council. The council further approved allocations for replacement of air-conditioning units in school in Abu Dhabi and the Western Region. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
