Khalifa holds talks with Senegalese leader
President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks yesterday with visiting Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade over ways of enhancing bilateral relations in the domains of trade, economy and investment.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the latest regional and international events with emphasis on the African issues. Sheikh Khalifa expressed the UAE's firm desire to develop its relations with African countries mainly in trade and economic fields.
On his part, the Senegalese President praised the economic and civilisational progress made by the UAE under the leadership of Sheikh Khalifa. He said his country was eager to establish greater investment opportunities with the UAE which he described as a free economy.
''The UAE has become an important regional hub for trade and investment and a magnetic point for international capital given its stability and security,'' he added.
He also lauded the humanitarian role the UAE plays in Africa. He noted that the UAE's hallmarks in the African humanitarian and charity landscape ''are well known.
The Senegalese president conferred on Sheikh Khalifa the Senegal order of first class in recognition of the close bilateral relations. Later, Sheikh Khalifa hosted a luncheon in honour of his guest and his accompanying delegation. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
