Pervez, Abdullah hold talks over bilateral relations

Islamabad - Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf praised yesterday the UAE for its incessant support for Pakistan in several fields and its public and private sectors for pumping investment into Pakistan's economy.
''The UAE and Pakistan share identical points of view on issues faced by the region especially acceleration of the Middle East peace process, Musharraf said, referring to his recent initiative to find a settlement for the Palestinian Cause.
He affirmed that the two countries were firm to boost joint action for the sake of maintaining peace and security in the region.
Musharraf made his remarks during an audience yesterday at Rawalpindi city with visiting UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who conveyed to him the best wishes of UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and those of H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai for progress and prosperity to Pakistan.
On his part, the Pakistani leader asked Sheikh Abdullah to relay his good wishes for health to President Khalifa and more progress and welfare for the UAE people. Musharraf and his guest reviewed progress of bilateral political and economic relations and exchanged views on the latest developments in the Gulf and Middle East.
The Pakistani President stressed the vital importance of exchange of visits between the two countries at various levels. He expressed the hope that meetings of UAE-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission would come out with positive results conducive to deepening the distinct bilateral friendship and strategic partnership for the benefit of the two countries.
The UAE-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission started its meeting here yesterday under the co-chairmanship of Sheikh Abdullah and his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
