Posted on02/10/2007 09:41:40

UAE President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated yesterday the UAE's keenness on supporting initiatives and efforts that would establish stability and security and reconstruction in Lebanon. He further underlined strengthening Lebanon's constitutional institutions, in particular in light of the current constitutional deadlines.
Sheikh Khalifa made his remarks as he received Lebanon's Prime Minister Fouad Siniora at the Al Bateen Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. Siniora arrived yesterday in Abu Dhabi starting a visit which comes as part of a regional tour.
At yesterday''s meeting, Siniora briefed Sheikh Khalifa on the current situation in Lebanon in light of the latest political developments, as well as on efforts by Arab and other countries to pave the way for a climate of security, stability and reconstruction. Sheikh Khalifa expressed hopes that the UAE-Lebanon relations would be further boosted in different areas. Sheikh Khalifa and Siniora also discussed issues of common concern as well as the existing bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries and ways to further boost them. For his part, the Lebanese Prime Minister said:"The UAE has won a special place in the hearts of all the Lebanese people for its support and interest in Lebanon's security and stability." He further praised the UAE's supportive stances for Lebanon which he said reflected H.H Sheikh Khalifa's wise vision. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
