You can watch relatively recent blockbuster movies or a range of Arabic, Indian and Pakistani films at a multitude of cinemas throughout the Emirates - many of them are at major malls such as Emirates Mall and Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai. Check the local newspapers or log on to the cinema guides on www.timeoutdubai.com, www.timeoutabudhabi.com, www.gulf-news.com/movies theemiratesnetwork.com for details. Tickets can be reserved but have to be collected one hour before the film is screened.
Film festivals (the Middle East International Film Festival (MEIFF), held each October at Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi and the Dubai International Film Festival, held in December at a number of venues in Dubai) are also a great opportunity to see a wide selection of feature films and documentaries.
